We have awarded two Artists Residencies: Lynn Taylor (January) and Eli Joseph (February)
We were overwhelmed with the quality and range of applications for the ‘ Quarantine Island / Kamau Taurua Artist in Residence’ on the Island, including poets, writers, a playwright/performer, photographers, painters, musicians, print-makers, and illustrators. It was extremely difficult to choose one person from the seventeen applicants. In the end we chose two very different artists whose intended work and way of working seemed closely aligned to the QIKT Community’s objectives : Lynn Taylor and Eli Joseph. Lynn is a print-maker and visual artist, living in Portobello; Eli a contemporary circus theatre artist from Wellington. Lynn intends to use her time experimenting further with cyanotype printing, and other explorations. Eli is developing a piece of spoken word and physical theatre. More details later!
In addition, we have offered shorter residencies to four other artists, details to come.
